Day 18

6:30 AM and we are underway through the dreaded Alligator Pungo Canal.  🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

The generator 'bit the shed' again last night so we had no power. Had all the windows open and thankfully a cool breeze kicked up in the evening. Had to get creative to make coffee this morn☕

In Beaufort, NC it is 65º with high of 83º,  precip. 0%
wind SW 7mph, ⛅

We have 63 miles to go today to get to Coinjock Marina; NC sure has a long coast as we have been in it forever, it seems!🤯

The wind controls the current here and it's running behind us with the tide coming in. This is a good thing, especially in THIS canal. The same one we hit an underwater stump, which took out one propeller, which waylaid us for a week!!!🙈

At 3:30 and after 8 hours of grueling stump and log watching and avoiding, we are at our destination, safe and sound and exhausted.

Some peeps still waving the Confederate Flag🚩

First order of business was getting Stella off the boat, then laundry.
We are in Coinjock Marina, NC, known for their restaurant  that serves to die for prime rib. I wrote about this earlier and was expecting a posh marina after all the hoop-la we have heard about this place;  wrong! It's pretty dumpy, one single-file of boats, one long dock, with restaurant.  Jury is out!  I'll report back later. It is very hot here too.
A generator guy  is here, once again!  Taking a part out to get fixed. Ugh!
Very curious about the name Coinjock, which is the town too; it's an Indian name for Mulberry bush. Go figure🌳 Population: 350

At 8:30 we are back from dinner and I have to say it was unbelievable!  Best prime rib I have ever had; now we know why we heard about this place so many times!  Never judge a book by its cover cause the food here was well worth the travel on the 90' wide canal called the Carolina Cut.  Beats traveling the Dismal Swamp again!
