Day Fifteen

It is Sunday and we are again in the Delaware River. Left  the Boonies at 7. While we slept Kenny turned the generator off, we experienced a totally silent night!  So weird, I couldn't sleep. It was very eerie! GLAD to be out of there!
Me at the helm this AM. It's nice because you can practically roll out of bed, throw your sweats on and begin the journey, as I did here.๐Ÿ˜ด
It is very foggy out, with winds at 6mph out of the SE. Seas are 1-2 feet and currently our heading is NNW on the Delaware. So the winds are following. ๐ŸŽ…The C & D Canal is 12ish miles ahead of us and at that point we will be heading East, I think? Once on the C&D we will have another 12ish miles to the upper Chesapeake.
And once in the Chesapeake we can determine our destination for today. Traveling at about 8 knots because of limited visibility; another long day in the forecast. Would love to be docked before kick off at 4:25๐Ÿˆ

It is 10:30 and we are in the thick of the fog, visibility less than  700'. On top of that we just heard on the radio that the C&D Canal is CLOSED due to FOG. ๐Ÿ˜ก We are anchoring smack in the middle of the Delaware until this pea soup passes. (We are not in the channel where all traffic should be)

We of course follow the navigation rules and when in limited visibility have to blast horn every 2 minutes; with 2 consecutive prolonged blasts, 2 seconds apart as we are not moving currently. When we are underway again it's 1 prolonged blast.๐Ÿ‘ฎ
It's 11:30, still anchored, still sounding off and waiting for canal to open. Ton of debris in this River floating by, lots of drift wood, Paddy!!!!๐Ÿ˜

Mary K. you just made me chuckle ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜
It is 3:30 and we are sitting ducks, still anchored in the Delaware River at the mouth of the C&D; which is still closed!!! The fog is so thick and it's only getting worse. My job is the horn blasts! And dinner! OY
OMG! We just got a call on radio from the Delaware City Marina. They see us on radar and AIS and  are giving us explicit directions to them.  Yippie! Now we just have to get there.
Stay tuned
I forgot to give the conclusion. Yes, we made it to safe harbor, very nice and welcoming to us. Was not fun getting here though!

  2. Cool place to spend the night, friendly folks. Walk into the town, quaint like place. Dick's has "Crab balls with special seaman sauce", the menu is a riot, we kept one for the journal. Eileen thinks that the town and Dick's are right out of s Steven King movie!
