It's still cold outside, 37ΒΊ ,winds NNW at 10-15 mph. We have gone under 5 bridges already this AM snaking down the ICW; smooth as silk! Can only travel 6 mph until we get to Elizabeth City, NC.
It is almost 8:30 and we are waiting for the green light to enter Lock, along with 2 sailboats. One of which has the 3 guys, all named John on it. We met them a couple days ago, as they were stuck at Marina with us. Great guys!
Took 30 minutes to get through Lock. Going up!
We are now in The Dismal Swamp with another hurdle just ahead.

The sail boat with the 3 Johns on it took our pic⛴ Their boat is called Journey.
It is now12:30 and we have to float around until 1:30 when the next bridge goes UP and then into the next Lock; they synchronize them. It's nice to have other boats to talk to and look out for each otherπ
π€π¦Putting shrimp on a hook and fish for a whileππ‘π π’ππ£π£π£
No fish but we are done with locks and bridges for the day.
In the next pic you can see the water level we just left is higher than in the Lock as it lowers us to the next body of water, which is still the GDSC.
We started at the sunny top and finished at the dank, dark bottom.
Elizabeth City is only 18 miles now and will take us 3 more hours traveling at 6ish mph. Hope it doesn't get dark early??? ππππ
We are loving this journey.π
Thanks for following along π»
5:00 and we are docked in Elizabeth City, NC. right next to the 3 Johns in the sailboat; we followed all day⛵π€
Don’t be making new boat friends!! You have enough old ones!! Looks like it’s going well! Love this blog!
ReplyDeleteOh man Wendy so glad you are no longer in the Dismal Swamp. No way to spin that name to sound like a good time. What is your Florida final destination?
